Zuri Stevens’ piece, 10 Ways Black People Can Survive Another Four Years of Trump and the unexpected silver lining of his presidency” is thought provoking. After identifying the systemic racial indignities that Black people have endured in America, she points out the Trumps’ presidency may provide the catalyst for change in the African-American community.

In a segregated America, Blacks had to develop their own support organizations. Churches, banks and businesses were established to provide needed services when this country marginalized some of its most productive citizens. Schools were nurturing institutions that imparted academic knowledge as well as love for one’s own racial community.

History attests to the strength of African-American solidarity in “Doing for self.” Will Trump’s efforts to push us to the sideline by banning Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs result in a rebirth of Blacks supporting Blacks in order to survive?
